AR Hits London

Dec 12th, 2010 | By | Category: Hotel-Assist News, London News

There’s a new set of buzz words starting to circle the globe … “Layar” …. “Android” …. “AR” – are you up to speed with these?  If not then best you swat up, because what started as a military heads up display application is now hitting the high street on the new generation of phones.

What does this “AR” do … well what doesn’t it do, it will probably be the biggest IT development since the internet was born.  Your mobile will become an intelligent and essential third arm.

Want to find a hotel and get the price for tonight, then just point your mob in any direction and see all the hotels within reach, select a likely candidate, check the real time price for tonight and book it and then let the phone guide you to it !

For the music enthusiast, visit Abbey Road, point your phone at the crossing and see the Beatles crossing over.

In Vegas, want a casino?  Point your phone like a compass and find the MGM.

In Soho and want an Indian meal, let your phone find it for you, give the phone number to make a booking and then guide you to it.

Need the nearest hole in the wall, just point your phone and it will tell you.

Ok so you are a media guy in London, pretty soon, if not tomorrow, your clients are going to ask you about implementing AR for their  business, what are you going to tell them?  There is a good chance that you need help and fast!

There is a company in London who know the answers and are the currently the hottest commercial  AR gurus around, being chased by the Corporates who need layars for their clients “yesterday”.  Augment Reality  is currently the one and only official Layar developer for the UK.  Although much of Augment Reality’s work is under wraps and protected by NDA’s,  we hear words like 3 dimensional AR icons in the sky over London, music AR sites, Beatles AR tours and something so cutting edge for a well known music group that its just known as codeword.

Candidly expressed by the founder of Augment Reality in London, Howard Ogden told us “The sky is the virtual limit!”

This guy and his team of people in the sky are virtually hot property !
