Best hotel in London ?

I wonder what would be the overall best hotel in London ?

Star rating is not the be all and end all.  I have just stayed at a hotel rated in the top 10 for London and the double  room was less than 4m square and being a “boutique” hotel there was no tea or coffee, no room service and no public areas yet people voted for it… strange.  I do not entirely believe hotel rating sites as I know for a fact that they can be subject to bogus reviews.  One word of advice is to look at the review writers history – is it the only hotel ever writen about ?

Here goes my personal London favourite hotel list:

1.  Luxury Hotel:

The Four Seasons Park Lane or the Landmark Hotel.

2.  Best small luxury hotel:

I love the Milestone Hotel down in Kensington.  Some say its too masculine however, I like its location and I like its Safari Suite which is all animal skin and has amazing views over Kensington Palace.  Not cheap but what the hell.

3. Best tourist class hotel

Up to recently I would have said the Montana Hotel in Kensington but prices are a little high now so not as good value for money as it used to be but still well worth checking out.  The Holiday Inn Kensington Forum is one I go back to regularly.  The prices can be very good – sub 100 gbp and the location is perfect for traveling around the capital.

4.  Best value for money hotel in London:

I vote for the Rembrandt Hotel in Knightsbridge.  Its one of those grand old ones but brought up to date without losing its traditional design.  You can stroll up to Harrods or Hyde Park and there are enough restaurants in the area to keep you going for a year.

Another is the Danubius Hotel London at the north west corner of Regents Park – before you dismiss its location just check it our on a map.  I can walk to Baker Street and Marylebone in ten minutes and the bus takes me directly to Oxford Street in the same amout of time from right outside the hotel.  Also – drivers note – its outside the congestion zone and has on site parking.
